Hartmann Thermoval standard digital clinical thermometer

The Thermoval® Standard digital fever thermometer is suitable for easily and reliably measuring fever. It features a sturdy measuring tip, an LCD display, a start/stop button, and a removable battery cover. The display shows the measured temperature in °C, the battery status, an audible signal when the thermometer is ready for use and the measurement time has ended, an automatic start/stop function, and a memory function with the last measured value. The thermometer has an automatic shut-off function, operates with a replaceable long-life battery, and is waterproof. Therefore, the thermometer may be immersed in liquid or lukewarm water for thorough cleaning and disinfection. The Thermoval® Standard measures body temperature within the following time periods:
• Rectal measurement (anal): 40 to 60 sec
• Oral measurement (under the tongue): 60 sec
• Axillary measurement (in the armpit): 90 sec

What is this medicine used for?
Measuring body temperature

Directions for use
Temperature measurement
Anal (rectal)
This is the most accurate method of measurement from a medical perspective, as it most closely approximates core body temperature. The tip of the thermometer is gently inserted a maximum of 2 cm into the anus. Measuring the temperature this way usually takes about 10 to 15 seconds.

In the armpit (axillary)
A surface temperature is determined in the axillary cavity, which, unlike rectally measured temperature, can deviate by 0.5 to 1.5°C in adults. Measuring the temperature this way normally takes approximately 10-40 seconds. However, it should be kept in mind that, for example, an exact measurement result cannot be achieved with cooled axillary cavities. For the most accurate measurement result possible, which closely approximates body temperature, we recommend extending the measurement time by 5 minutes.

Under the tongue (oral)
There are several temperature zones in the oral cavity. Oral temperature is typically 0.3 to 0.8°C lower than rectally measured temperature. For the most accurate measurement, place the tip of the thermometer under the tongue, either to the left or right of the tongue root. The probe should be in constant contact with the tissue and positioned under the tongue at the back of one of the two temperature zones during the measurement. Keep your mouth closed during the measurement and breathe calmly through your nose. Do not eat or drink immediately before the measurement. Taking a temperature this way typically takes approximately 10 to 30 seconds.
