Start preparing your maternity bed from 36 weeks of pregnancy.\n\nStep 2. Raise your bed to at least 80 cm using (rented) bed risers or crates.\n\nStep 3. Take the mattress protector from the maternity kit. You use this to protect your mattress if your water breaks at night. Place the mattress protector widthwise on the mattress where your lower body rests and tuck the mattress protector around the mattress.\n\nStep 4. Place a fitted sheet over the mattress and mattress protector.\n\nStep 5.
