You'll need to practice a bit on how to insert and remove the cup, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy and comfortable.\nBefore you use the cup for the first time, you must sterilize it: wash your hands and put enough boiled water in a saucepan. Push the cup completely under water for 3-4 minutes. Remove the cup from the water and it is ready for use. We recommend repeating this process after each cycle to keep your cup perfectly clean.\n\nHOW TO INSERT\nStep 1. Wash your hands thoroughly and assume a comfortable position. Recommended positions are: squatting, sitting on the toilet, or standing.\nStep 2. Fold the cup (Fig.1). There are two ways to fold the cup:\nA – Push both sides of the cup together and fold the cup in half to form a \"U\".\nB – Place a finger on the edge of the top of the cup and push it inwards to form a triangle.\nStep 3. (Fig. 2 and 3) While holding the folded cup in one hand, gently spread your outer labia with your other hand. Insert the cup into the vagina towards the tailbone until the stem is flush with the vaginal opening and does not protrude. Do not push the end of the stem further than 1.5 cm into the vagina. The cup sits lower than a tampon. Once you have placed the cup, release it, the cup will open and conform perfectly to your vaginal wall.\nStep 4. (Fig. 4) To ensure that the cup is in the correct position, rotate it 360º, in any direction, by gripping it at the base (above the stem). The cup should turn easily when properly inserted. To ensure the cup is fully open, you can insert one finger into your vagina and gently press against one side of your vaginal wall to create space for the cup to open fully. If the stem, after proper insertion, causes irritation to the vaginal wall, you can remove the cup and trim the stem a little. If the stem is completely trimmed, it will be more difficult to remove the cup.\n\nHOW TO REMOVE\n1. Wash your hands\n2. Assume a comfortable position (standing, sitting on the toilet or squatting). Insert your index finger and thumb into the vagina and feel for the stem or the bottom of the cup.\n3. Pulling will be easier with a slight tension of the lower abdominal\/pelvic floor muscles.\n4. Gently pull the stem so you can firmly grasp the base of the cup.\n5. Gently squeeze the base of the cup to break the vacuum. When removing the cup, hold the cup at an angle and move it back and forth.\n6. Hold the cup vertically when it has been completely removed from the vagina, so that the contents remain in the cup. Then empty the cup into the toilet.\n7. Wash the cup with clean water so it is ready for next use. Make sure the holes at the top are thoroughly cleaned. You can also use unscented soap. If clean water is not available, you can dry the cup with toilet paper or a tissue and wash it with clean water later.\nOTHER TIPS\n\nThe menstrual cup should be emptied at least every 12 hours. We recommend washing and cleaning the cup 2 to 3 times daily after emptying. Once you have mapped out the use of the cup and your flow, you will quickly know how often you need to empty your cup. Wash, clean and dry your GENIAL DAY® cup thoroughly after each menstrual period. Make sure you also clean the suction holes thoroughly.
